Welcome to Old City Food Court, a hidden gem nestled within the vibrant Prima Tanjung area of Tanjung Tokong, Penang. If you are on a quest to dive deep into the flavors of local Malaysian and Thai cuisine, this food court might just be your perfect destination. With a plethora of food stalls – around 20 to be exact – prepare yourself for an unforgettable culinary adventure.
The atmosphere here is casual yet buzzing, allowing you to walk in and immediately soak up the sensory delights of sizzling woks and fragrant spices wafting through the air. Each stall radiates enthusiasm and dedication, and the friendly owners are always eager to share their recommendations with you.
When it comes to the menu, you’ll be spoiled for choice. The Thai Kuay Teow Soup, praised by our customers for its rich black broth, is packed with umami and balances a tantalizing heat that invites you to sip more and more. The texture of the kuay teow noodles, delicate yet satisfying, truly outshines the local variants. If you’re in the mood for something at once comforting and refreshingly acidic, don’t miss the Penang Curry Mee, which perfectly captures the bold flavors that make it a favorite among locals.
But Thai cuisine isn’t the only star here. Customer favorites also include Kit Siang Seafood and the ever-popular Thai Style Pork Leg Rice, known for its melt-in-your-mouth goodness that could easily become a weekly habit. Whether you fancy something hearty, like a bowl of Wanton Mee, or the fragrant allure of a Nasi Lemak, there’s something here that will appeal to every palate.
While it’s certainly bustling, with some stalls selling out quickly during peak hours, many patrons recommend arriving early to secure your must-tries. Although the food court isn't air-conditioned, the rotating fans do a commendable job keeping the environment comfortable, allowing you to enjoy your meal drenched in flavor.
For those planning a visit, remember that some stalls might only accept cash, so it's wise to have some on hand. Parking can be a challenge during busy times, so arriving with a little extra patience is recommended. But rest assured, once you’ve secured a spot and claimed your seat, the delightful journey through Malaysia’s finest street food will be worth every effort.
With glowing reviews emphasizing not just the food quality but also the camaraderie of the stall owners and the vibrant ambiance, Old City Food Court is more than just a dining destination – it's a haven for food lovers and adventurers alike. walk in and get full sense of place. lot of options, especially on thai side. speaking of which, thai kuay teow soup is really good. black broth is chock full of umami, and deep heat that wants to kick arse. thai kuay teow, with diaphanous construction, is also nicer than the local variant. ditto "penang" curry mee, which pitches on acidic rather than lemak here. flavourful, and markedly thai inflected. char kuey teow is good, with duck egg nicely worked in. fried rice, from same stall, is overly charred and less so. chicken porridge is likewise good, with full load of liao. could do with more disintegration though. bakery next door is joy to the world. pair with coffee here. this place is unfortunately runt of litter in comparison to big dogs up road and across street. both in daylight and darkness. like ladyhawke, but even worse.

Well hidden inside Prima Tanjung is the Old City Food Court, which is home to about 20 hawkers. Three variety of food is quite astounding, but what's even more surprising is that the food here is all good. There are a few popular stalls here that sells out fast so people normally come early before lunch to ensure that they manage to get what they want. Parking along the roadside is available but you may have to make a few rounds too get one. It's easier to just park inn the underground cat park where a space is always ensured, art a small price. I liked the Thai pork leg rice, located at the far end of the food court. Gives it a try if you're not you too the usual Penang fare.

Went here for the Thai food, which is quite good and value for money. The food court itself is clean, but can get quite stuffy. There are blower fans blowing everywhere, which can get really windy. Parking can be bad, so be prepared. There are also alot of seats in this food court. There are beams that prevent people from bringing in their motorbikes into the area, but that means that wheelchair users might face problem.

This food court serves many of the Penang famous street food. There is no air conditioning but we do not feel hot during our meal. The stall owners are friendly. Please note that few of them only collect cash, so prepare some cash. When we walked in, we smelled very fragrant curry. The store is not ready yet and it will be too heavy for breakfast. We ordered the okay Toew Thoeng, Wanton Mee, Che Cheong Fun, and Poh Piah. They all tasted good.

Been coming here all my life and the food and drinks here never dissapoints. Kit Siang Seafood is the one of the best ones. Beef is the way to go. Thai style pork leg rice is a reliable one too. I used to order this once a week, every week. Super tasty pork meal. I tried some of the nasi lemak lauk and its pretty good! I approve! The drinks ikut mood punya. Sometimes super dope, but most times kinda meh. I usually go for kopi o or white coffee. The place is typical outdoorish foodcourt of the olden times but nice and comfortable. It gets hot sometimes.
